Windows is by default configured to just restart without giving any clues as to why it restarts. This can be changed so the computer (hopefully) throws an blue screen with more information on it for easier troubleshooting.

In Win 11 i open the Control Panel and in the search field typ in the word advanced. Now, click on "View advanced system settings" that is listed under the System category. This brings up the System Properties dialog. In this dialog, click on "Settings" for Startup and Recovery. In the new dialog that pops up, un-check "Automatically restart" and click OK in both dialogs.

Now the computer will hopefully throw a blue screen next time it decides to restart. This blue screen will hopefully give some clues. Google is your friend here when searching for error codes.

If you open Windows Event Viewer and go to Windows Logs > System it should be able to find the cause as well.

Thanks for your reply.

We are running Windows Server 19.  The reoor happens with a firm 'click'from the power supply and the machine goes black, and then reboots.

Yesterday  anUbuntu install worked fine overnight, including stress tests.

Today, a Windows Server 19 installation crashes upon rebooting after the installation files are copied during the instalation proces.

The problem seems to be a hardware-WinServer19 combination.
