the compute option is one that should be documented by HP in better detail, the bios also should give some sort of warning not to enable  if a display card is in that slot

 

for those who are wondering, the compute setting tells the system to treat a video card in that slot as a non display device

even though it has video out ports as such the OS will not see it as a valid display device but it will see the card for compute functions

 

when you set all pci-e slots to compute you get the 6 beep video error because the bios now thinks there is no working display device in any pci-e slot and it pauses the startup

 

i wonder if it's possible to write down the steps to blindly enter the bios, and change the  slots back to video mode, then save
