I have a 3 TB external drive (Seagate) when connected to HP Z440 with windows 10 or 7, the computer sees the full capacity. When connected to an identical HP Z440 with win 11, the capacity is reported in storage management as 746 GB. I see solutions related to changing the drive Boot Record type...so on. I indlstalled the RST From drivers for the Z440 on the HP Downloads ( used win 10 64 bit as win 11 is not supported)... wondering if anyone found a solution to this?

check the bios versions on both systems i suspect that the one with issues is on a older bios
for the z800/820 systems later bios's allowed larger boot disks from the original 2tb up to almost 3tb in size
also make sure both systems bios's are configured the same

Thank you for the suggestion. Problematic computer initially had M60 2.49 BIOS. As part of the troubleshooting for this issue, I upgraded it to 2.61 (Latest) and no change - still unable to see the full capacity.
The other computer (Win 10) had 2.47 up until this morning. For kicks, I upgraded to 2.61, and still able to see full capacity.
So BIOS version does not seem to be a factory
I changed everything on the problematic computer to match the Windows 10 computer. Major difference in configuration that remains is UEFI or Legacy. Windows 10 (non-problematic) uses "Legacy boot" while Windows 11 uses UEFI (I can't change due to dual OS boot) - I can change windows 10 (good) configuration to UEFI if anyone thinks it's a factor.
Aside from the obvious (problematic uses Windows 11, vs. good computer uses Windows 10), I am not sure were to go next...

The content of the drive is not visible in the Win11 computer. It only shows up in Storage Management without a drive assigned. In the Win10 computer, it's accessible with drive letter assigned and full capacity as one partition of 2.7x TB, vs 746GB in Win11 machine!

So as an experiment, to rule out BIOS, EFI, and any hardware on this machine, I installed windows 10 in a dual boot configuration. The external drive is fine, showing 2.7 TB and is fully accessible when booting in Windows 10, but in windows 11 it's inaccessible with only 746 GB recognized in Storage Manager (not usable / accessible)
Sounds like drivers (Chipset / USB,... Or...?) is the culprit. I guess the Z440 is not supported by Windows 11, so it's a chance I took.. so be warned folks.. if anyone finds a solution, please share.
