HP Z640 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've just purchased a HP 841969-001 Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro Adapter Card for my HP Z640 Workstation, added two Samsung SSD 980 PRO PCIe4.0 NVMe M2 1TB SSD banks, installed the card in PCI slot 5 (PCIe x16 slot) but the system doesn't show any changes. Is the adapter card incompatible with the Samsung NVMe memory banks or is it something else?

I've enabled bifurcation and tried both 8x8 and 4x4x4x4. I've also tested the same PCIe (slot 5 ) with a  Vantec Dual M.2 SSD RAID PCIe x4 Host Card (UGT-M2PC300R) to no avail. Both cards (HP and VANTEC) power LEDs lit up so I guess there is nothing wrong with the PCI slot itself. This is an Amazon  refurbished Z640 that looks and works OK in all other regards. I'm not exactly an expert to continue to tinker so I gave up and decided to return the cards and the memory banks. Thank you all for the suggestions.

@Mitran -- if you put some completely-different device, such as a graphics-adapter card, into that PCI-E slot, does your computer detect/use that device? It would be terrible if the PCI-E slot was faulty.

in order to use this card bifurcation must be enabled in the bios and this feature was only added in later bios revisions for the z840, i don't know for sure if HP also enabled it for the z640 but i believe they did
