All the workstations in the past used the same exact key. There is a key number stamped in the metal ... it was the same from xw6400 up to our Z640 workstations. It may still be the same so go get an old one and try it. This obviously is not great security but a locksmith could change out the internals and get you your own personal key that is different from all the rest. The workstation's cover and rear case metal also often have two apposing metal tabs with matching holes that one can use a padlock on too.

replacement lock/key can be sourced on amazon/ebay
https://www.amazon.com/file-cabinet-locks/s?k=file+cabinet+locks
simply remove your existing lock and measure the hole diameter and note if the lock uses a flat plate as the locking mechanism
the service manual can also be helpful

I have a bunch of spares... contact me via PM via the forum and send me a "SASE" self addressed stamped envelope and I'll get you a couple, gratis. Then you can tell us if the old ones work in your newer HP workstation. I know of no way to buy these via HP directly...

The only ones I have are for the xw6400/xw8400/xw6600/xw8600/Z600/Z620/Z640... all the same. I presume these will also fit in the Z800, Z820, Z840. Have not tested any of these on the Z8 G4 but it sounds like you have.
Those all are the same size and have the same 3-digit code on the keys.... IIRC 103.Sounds like HP finally changed their locks.
