Hi,

Is it possible to install following RAM modules in HP Z820?

Are these compatible?

What are the differences?

Samsung M393B1K70DH0

4x 8GB Modules = 32 GB

Samsung M393B1G70QH0

4x 8GB Modules = 32 GB

Please check attached images of both RAM modules are PC3 12800R DIMMs

you can not mix dimm modules with different ranks in the same memory bank

you can however run a bank of all rank 2, and another bank using rank 1 dimms

rank in this case means how the chips on the dimm are accessed if you want detailed info google "memory rank"

on the z820 each bank is composed of 4 dimms and each cpu ( if dual cpu's are installed) has 2 memory banks for a total of 4 banks (2 banks for a single cpu)
