Hi Community,
im owning an older Z820 which was running great since two days ago. I had to add a new sec GPU to the system and was updating the system with a fresh copy of linux (which was already booting up fine before).
After the installation of the sec GPU the system was going into full fan speed upon powering on. My first guess of course was its the GPU so i deinstalled the card only to found out that the system is still showing no bios and full fan speed.
What have i done so far in addition:
- Uninstalled everything except CPU's and Ram - same result
- Pulled PSU and reinstalled it to avoid contact issued - same result
- Searched for similar issues in the board. Found crisis jumper approach which i tried but it seems that USB is not being powered on at all (front and rear keeps dead silent, no USB stick and also mouse/keyboard is not being powered on), so that doesn't seem to work neither.
Would be a shame to loose that z820.
So i'm more than happy to hear suggestions of what i could try on top.

DO NOT ATTEMPT A BIOS RECOVERY YET!!!!!
remove power cord, remove sec video card (if installed)
press power button till lights/beeping stops
open side panel, (remove cmos battery carefully)
press cmos reset button 10 sec
reinstall cmos battery (recommend checking batt voltage, replace if 3.0 or lower)
connect pwr cord, press power on
system should start, if so enter bios and set date/time and any other options
if still issues post again

Hi Dgroves,
first sry for late reply, we have been out of town for a few days.
I tried this, removed battery, hold cmos reset button for 10s+ and reinstalled cmos but that results in the same issue.
Plugging back in the power cord starts the machine and fans are on full speed with no bios screen. As i mentioned also in my post the USB keyboard and mouse stay unpowered (which also might make it difficult to attempt a BIOS flash).
Thanks for further instructions.

Yes and no. Nothing happens with the USB stick, apart from 1x blinking. I now unsoldered the BIOS flash chip, and after a readout attempt I found out its not responding. So I bought a new one, and wait for it. I will then give the J63_0396.BIN a try to direct load it into the flash chip and resolder it to the mainboard.
If it works, I will inform you, also on the other thread.
