I was using my HP z420 when it suddenly powered off.
I tried to power it back on but the power button blinks with 4 red lights.
What does this mean ?

This is from the Maintenance and Service Guide.

You need to check the motherboards Boot Block Date listed in the BIOS. This is not the same as the BIOS date.
If it is 2011, then your mobo only supports the v1 CPU's and 1600MHz memory
If it is 2013, then your motherboard supports both the v1 and v2 CPU's, (and most v2 CPU's support 1866MHz memory).
