Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If your hard drive is not found by windows 10 follow this guide.

Go to this website:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-z640-workstation/6978835

scroll down to Driver-Storage and download the driver file.

sp96420.exe

 

download and install 7zip from 

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

 

rename the driver file from .exe to .zip

Right click the  file you renamed sp96420.zip

Click on 7zip and unzip file

You will receive an error that says this is not a valid zip file, it is a pe archive file.

ignore the warning and unzip the file.

7zip will create a folder \sp96420

there will be another folder under this one called /sp96420/drivers

that is where the sSata driver is located. Copy that folder to a thumb drive. in Windows setup be sure to use the sSata driver not the Sata driver.

Delete disk

Create new partition

Install windows

 

Ignore the wa
