A special Hello to Paul Tikken,

I have seen in this forum several solutions to solve the 1801 microcode error by updating the BIOS to the latest version 2.09 but these solutions were for Windows 7 in 2016.

We are now in 2020 and I am hoping you could help me find a solution to on this patch for windows 10.

I have a HP DC5700 running on E7500 CPU. It has a Grub dual boot program and It works fine with ubuntu 18.

Before I updated the CPU it was a E6300 and windows 10 works well but since I updated to E7500 windows 10 can not boot anymore. Fortunately Ubuntu still works on the computer even in the 1801 error. Please help.

Hi:

See my instructions at the discussion below for how to update the microcode...the dc7700 uses the same microcode file as the dc5700...sp51243.

You may have to run that HP USB formatting tool on a PC running W7 or older, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive.
