I'm currently on 4.7 SP5 looking after around 3000 Global Thin Clients, mostly T630's
One server running the Gateway, master repository, using child repository at local sites.
I can't seem to find any information on upgrading from my current version to 5.0, can I do it? Will I need to install the latest SP's first? Is there a best method of backing things up? I have around 30 First contact rules, 50+ Scheduled rules and around the same tasks.
Would really appreciate some guidance as the current build is starting to cause some problems and we're facing a large scale deployment soon. Thanks in advance!

Hi Luke,
You can 'upgrade' to HPDM 5.0 from any version in 4.7 series.
Since HPDM 5.0 is a 64bit application, so there is no 'upgrade' stictly speaking.
The HPDM 5.0 installer perform the steps in an order of
- Uninstall the existing 4.7 installation( you will be asked to backup by the 5.0 installer, this is automatic but need your approve)
- Install 5.0
- Restore the backup in step1 if detected.
We have some modification on Rule to make it more powerful - basically the Rule must be linked to a folder. So after the upgrade, all the rules will be disabled by default to give you a chance to double check.
I would suggest to you play with the new 'Rule' first in a test environment before moving to 5.0 in production environment.
You can refer to 5.0 admin guide for more details.

All 'Rules'. The idea is, you bind rule with folder. Once the device is dragged to that folder, all the rules will be triggered based on certain criteria.
