current OS's later than windows 8 and the current linux OS variants when using the UEFI bios and GPT format can boot off of drives larger than what's currently produced

for a data drive (non bootable) formatted under "GPT" using a current OS, even older non UEFI based bios's can support drives larger than what's currently made now and for the foreseeable future

older non uefi (Legacy) bios's will have a 2 or 3.6 TB limit for a boot drive and a the same partition limit nor non bootable,

IE a 8TB data legacy drive will be split into 2 or 3 partitions under a legacy non UEFI Bios

as for ram capacity refer to the hp "quickspecs" for any current HP system

I am asking about Win-10 or 11 and the HP z4g4 workstation with the Xeon W-2145 CPU

Well, why did you not say that in the beginning? What he said is still true.

The Intel ark site states your processor supports a max of 512GB memory, HERE .

As you boost memory you'll need to increase your case cooling. Make sure you have one of the HP front case cooling fan and fan holder, for example. And see the HP Z4 G4 Memory Baffle Fan Assembly (a saddle-like device with a fan over each memory bank), part numbers 927570-001 or -002. Look on eBay for those, and search there also for 1XM33AA for the front case fan kit. Surplus Z4G4 workstations are being parted out  these days.

From HP: "The HP Z4 G4 Memory Cooling Solution can be installed on any HP Z4 G4 Workstation configuration for improved system acoustics, but it is required for configurations using Xeon processors and 32GB Registered memory DIMMs." It has HP option part number 1XM34AA in addition to the two numbers I provided above, and I've never seen a recycled one that later went bad:
