Hi there.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a USB 3.0 driver which will work with my Z600?  The Belkin ports I've installed have a driver which won't work with my system.

Thanks!

The Z600 only has USB 3 drivers for Windows 7.

I don't know which model USB controller your PC has.

USB 3 drivers are not needed for W8 and newer operating systems.

Paul, hi.

Thank you for your helpful (and speedy!) reply.

In fact, like a dummy, I just ran the Belkin CD containing the driver, received the error-message, and then started looking for one that might work.  I thought I’d try it anyway, and,  lo and behold, it was working fine.  I have Windows 10 on my machine, so, as you point out, it didn’t need me to install anything.

Thanks again!

Tony.

EDIT: Just saw you got this solved. I've used Paul's posted technique to install W11 on the Z600s referred to below, clean installs, with that HP card in place. Those automatically got the TI USB HP PCIe drivers installed as a result. Good to know for those wanting to run W11 and still have USB3. Same idea might work for you if you use Paul's method to do a clean install on a SSD with your Belkin card in place...

The USB ports in a Z600 are USB2 only. Your Belkin device may need drivers if it truly is a USB3 PCIe plug-in device.

The next generation of HP workstations, the Z420/Z620/Z820 added in USB3 using a Texas Instruments chip on the motherboard. HP put out a PCIe card that brought USB3 to the Zx00 family using that same TI chip. Because there are so many of the Zx20 workstations out still in use MS/HP have kept drivers for that TI chip integrated into the W10/W11 installers.

I'm still using those HP TI-based PCIe cards in several of the Z600 workstations here... and have posted on the install quite a bit in the past here in the forum. Use google to look up adding USB3 to Z600 or Z400.

Here's a link, and those HP PCIe cards can still be easily found on eBay. I've used the Alan guys over the years.

Thank you so much for your very helpful advice, which I shall certainly be making use of.

I’m always heartened when people take the time and make the effort to share their wisdom.  I really appreciate it!
