Hp Z600 Workstation Cpu Upgrade

Hi, I've Been Wanting to know what CPU's my Hp Z600 Workstation Can Upgrade to At the Moment it has an Intel Xeon E5506 In it Is there any Ryzen CPU's that it can run or normal Intel Cores like i5 i7 and so on.

You'll need first to figure out if you have a Z600 version 1 or version 2.  They have different boot block dates you can see from inside the first major section of BIOS.  Look up that date, and hope you have the v2 because that lets you run faster better processors.  The list is limited but we can help you with the best one for your needs once you know your boot block date.

Sorry for the late reply I've been a bit busy

I'm mostly sure I have the V1 because the Max amount of ram for me is 48gb and for the V1 thats the same but for the v2 you can have more what is the best CPUs I can put in I have a feeling the list is going to be quite limited what would be the best one for gaming??

For gaming use, the key factor is the single-thread -one- core performance plus a strong video card.

1. If the subject z600 is a first version, the best performance will be Xeon X55xx 4-core processors. The Xeon X5570 4C @ 2.93 / 3.33 GHz has the highest Turbo clock speed in that series.

2. If the subject z600 is a second version version, the best performance will be Xeon X56xx 4-core processors. The Xeon X5672 4C @ 3.2 / 3.6 GHz has the highest Turbo clock speed.

3. Consider that gaming performance will be quite limited and that changing two generations forward to  a zX20 v2 system with a Xeon E5-1650 v2 will offer: an overclockable 6-core CPU at much higher clock speeds.  Thee office z420 / E5-1650 v2 / GTX 1060 6GB has run up to 4.7 GHz on all cores, can run selected M.2 drives, has PCIe 3.0 instead of 2.0, 1866 RAM instead of DDR2-667, USB 3.0 instead of 2.0, SATAIII instead of SATAII, and so on.

The highest Passmark system rating for any HP z600 = 4566.  Two generations away:

For comparison, the average Single Thread Mark for the Xeon X5672 = 1574

The Xeon  E5-1650 v2 in that system cost only $50. The 1650 v2 in the system below was $58:

I've got a Zotac Geforce Gtx 970 In the machine at the moment so I'll stick with that

I've got a question about The Xeon X5570 4C @ 2.93 / 3.33 GHz is it overclockable I'm guessing it probably is will my PC perform well with two of The Xeon X5570 4C? Because I play some partly high powered games

Do you know what equivalent CPU is in the Intel Core I Series to the Xeon X5570 4C is?

I've bought some very nice version 2 eBay used Z600s with version 1 processors inside.  They were originally ordered that way because the v1 processors were much cheaper back when, and HP allowed buyers to make their choices in the build-to-order process.

So, do yourself a favor and confirm that in BIOS your boot block date is the earlier or later of the two.  It would change all the advice if you happen to have the later better faster-processor-capable version of the workstation.  It will take you one boot into BIOS to know forever... roughly 2 minutes out of your day, one-time investment.
