Hp z820
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

I have a hp z820 workstation. I realized one of the CPU pin on the motherboard is broke and I wanted buy new motherboard. But I just can found the over versions of my part number. My motherboard is 618266-002. I have Xeon e5 2687w cpu x 2.
When I checked the amazon I just found 618266-003 or 004. I checked the Workstations forum and found some topics but can't do clear this subject. If I buy the 618266-004 motherboard can I use the my xeon e5 2687w CPUs or not? All sellers wrote in description compatible for " e5 2600 - e52620v2 " How I can clarify that ?

the hp z820 board came in two main revisions the first revision only supports the 55xx xeons the rev 2 release with the updated Intel I/O chipset supports 55xx and also the 56xx lines of xeons

you can use the bootblock date in the Bios to determine board revision, 12/28/2011 is a rev 1 board.  and 03/062013 is rev 2

or the motherboard label,.......... boards with 1.02.1.3/1.4 are rev 2 boards

Thank you so much for your answer,

My CPU is E5 2687w. Its mean I can use 618266-004 or 003 motherboard cause its not affect me. right?
