I have both a Linux Mint CD, which isn't bootable and a Linux Mint bootable USB. What System/BIOS changes do I need to make to boot from a Linux Bootable USB stick?

Set the BIOS to Factory Defaults, and don't forget to save the changes on the way out.  Shutdown, cold boot, F9 into boot devices, choose the thumb drive from the list.  I use legacy.
