I know this sounds rather simple but I'm stumped. I can see my HP Pavilion 15 lap top in my devices but it tells me I need to log into the product. I don't see where to do that. There doesn't appear to be a "log on" screen for each device. It sees my printer but not my lap top

Can you see some thing similar to the following image ?
On this example, MARY-PC is my wife's machine. I can right click it and I should be able to see logon screen.

Thank you for your response but I can't figure out where you are seeing the device listed that way. So you don't think I'm a total moron I pulled up Device manager and also selected the device in my control panel. I have searched in the device section of HP Support and see my current printer and a former printer that I no longer own. My laptop is not listed there either. I must admit that I'm feeling pretty stupid.

I can see the device now. I think the thing that is confusing me is that I click on updates, it scans for updates and then says I need to log into the device to update. There were no updates available so perhaps I'm overthinking this situation. Thanks for you patience.
