Hello and good day to you.

 

I have a Z440 mb which appears to be partly bricked.

 

The information I have found (there was an advisory) gives a fairly easy process to follow, but, I'm not able to find the BIOS version that they're talking about.  https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05163478 

 

I'm looking for 2.20 or something close to that (not earlier though). The earliest I can find is 2.48.

 

Can anybody help?

the current z440 bios is at revision 2.50 which includes all previous fixes from 2.40 and below

note that the included directions you linked to for the bios recovery may not be correct check this forum for bios posts from "SDH" who has documented the correct recovery method. as i recall the directory paths to the new bios location are wrong in some of hp's recovery posts
