HP Z2 Small Form Factor G4 Workstation

Hello,

As soon as the machine is plugged in (before even press the start button) the fan starts surging on and off, the machine does not boot up, and the red/white light patterns flash. The DVD light is on green and a white light next to the power button displays white and flashes slowly and continually. I think the symbol near that button looks like that of a database with the three stacked disks.

I checked the service manual for the pattern which is 5 slow red followed by 7 fast white; but there is not a 5.7 option in the table. See page 66 of https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06099780.pdf

The machine belongs to my mother and, although it 's a bit difficult to get a clear answer of the circumstances immediately before the issue started, it appears that she put the machine in hibernation, sometime later saw the power light on, moved the mouse but the monitor did not display, and shut it down using the power button. Thus, it is possible that she shut the machine down during a Windows update but I do not know that for sure.

It's an i7-9700, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD. Purchased 2020.

It has a NVIDIA graphics card and I removed that but it made no change. I tried holding the start button for 15 and 30 seconds when not plugged in for what I read was a "hard reset" and it resulted in no change.

I was going to order a new system board but thought it prudent to ask for some help first.

Thank you for any guidance you may be able to provide.
