HP Z4 G4 (i9)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I have a HP Z4 G4 Workstation with Intel i9.
I would like to buy an internal SSD (2 teras), SAMSUNG, (it will contain the boot op system and datas).
I have read that not all are bootables or compatible, what I have to search as model (and codes models) for the best fit to my workstation?

Thanks!

EARLY computers that are not a UEFI enabled bios (pre x99 chipsets) lack the necessary nvme boot code, and can only boot from SATA devices however these systems can still use a nvme device as a non booting (data) device

all intel systems designed/released after 2015 have support for nvme or sata as a boot device

ALL systems regardless of when made can boot from SATA based SSD'S

your Z4 G4 system being a very current model can use/boot from either NVME or SATA, and also there should be at least one NVME M.2 slot on your motherboard, please look at the HP "quickspecs"  for details

again,...............READ THE HP QUICKSPECS do you have a XEON or Core i7 Model?

the Z4 G4 supports both NVME/SATA

the Z4 G4 supports M.2 and 2.5 sized devices

neither of your drive choices are HP approved for business use as they are consumer drives using TLC or QLC nand

HP approved SSD's at this time are still based on MLC nand

while you can use consumer drives on the  Z4 C4  this is not recommended in a business environment

Again...

As you can read inthe title and in the topic is a i9.

I am here to request help because no expert.

I can use not approved HP, I just need that they are compatible.

the only guaranteed compatible ssd's are the ones HP has tested and certified, all others are on the should work but it's not guaranteed

it is because your not knowledgeable i strongly recommend you read the quickspecs

based on your replies i recommend you either pay a consultant, or pay a local HP authorised or skilled reputable shop to have a SSD selected and installed in your system

Thank anyway.

I will wait for more complete answer.
