Mitigating Z43 Monitor BRG pixel layout causing blurry text at 100% scaling

33" is too far away for me to sit from without significantly increasing font size in Windows. However, inside that distance text appears blurry or smudged. Thank you.

windows has never had good scaling abilities, you bought a 4k display why? if for presentation/video tasks and games it's great at it's native resolution of  3840 x 2160 at any other resolution the display is not that great due to how the display must create lower resolutions (this affects all digital display panels to varying degrees)

if you bought the display to do word processing or text related tasks, you made a poor choice, as 4k displays are not really suited for this

The last thing I expected to read in an HP hardware forum was a blame the victim rant. If I wanted a sermon I would have gone to Church. And if I felt the need to be blamed for something that isn't my fault. I would have simply turned on CNN or /FOX news.......

I am using this as an architectural CAD monitor where the display of 8-10 point Arial Narrow text at native resolution of 4K is a basic and totally reasonable requirement of this monitor. Apparently it suffers from chroma sub-sampling  and Windows anti-aliasing issues due to its BGR sub-pixel layout. If in fact this monitor has the proper RGB layout, then I am looking in the wrong place to solve my problem. Can someone please confirm that he Z43 has BGR sub-pixel layout instead of RGB?. And if so, is there anyway in software to mitigate the problem? Thank you.

I don't get the 33" comment you started with.  Below may be a waste of your time but we found significant benefit from going to this with our high DPI medical monitors.  Blurring on them is bad to have as you can imagine....    Make sure to have the latest W10 graphics card driver installed and set the resolution to that which is native for your monitor.  Here is how to force W10 out of high DPI trickery and going to pure 100%.  We're all getting grumpy, by the way.

Right click on your desktop, drag down to Display Settings, highlight your high DPI monitor, go down to Scale & Layout, down below the "Change the size..." line click on Advanced scaling settings.  Turn off the "Let Windows try..." slider.  Go down to the "Enter a custom scaling" box and enter 100.  Click on Apply.  Click on Sign out now.  Sign back in.

Let us know if that helped.  It sure did here, but surely with different cards and monitors.  Worth a try.  Automatic high DPI scaling by the OS has been a Holy Grail for years now, generally yielding a tin cup result.
