HP Device Manager
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)

I need to move HP Device Manager to a new server.

How can I do that?

I also want to change from progress db to SQL db.

Can I migrate the data?

Which version of HPDM and which Service pack for HPDM is installed,

and to which Server OS do you wish to migrate to,

and is the HPDM a VM or physical Machine ?

Yes it is possible to migrate Data from Post Gr to MS SQL

But to start with you need to use the HPDM Backup tool to save your Data

Then when creating the new server you need to choose Migrate to a new location

read page 17 of this

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/hpdm/Documentation/WhitePapers/4.7/WP_Installation-and-Update-Guide_HPDM-4.7-SP...

It's version 4.7 SP6 to 4.7 SP6.

The old server 2008 R2 and the new 2016.

Both VM.

Yes, I tried that step. But when I load HPDM I not see my old data.

In what step should I use the backup I made with  HPDM Backup tool?

It's only ask to point out the install folder of the old server.

It doesn't accept the backup folder.

Stop HPDM server & Gateway

Open the command Prompt dialog on the system where you have installed HPDM server

Swtich to the directory "../HP Device Manager/Server/bin"

Execute the command line: dbsetup "-language=en" "-country=US" to open the DB installation dialog

Choose the option of migrate (the third one)

Thanks.

Now I managed to migrate from the old server with Postgre sql to the new with SQL.

The inventory looks good, I can see the clients and the rules etc.

But I cannot manage the clients, every task I send to them is just stuck on blue and is not executed.

Like shadowing or anything.

How do I get them to talk to the new server?

HP Recommended

Tasks are getting stuck in processing the task

You should update to SP 8

HP Recommended

There is no SP8 yet. SP7 is the latest.

Is it Win10 IoT client?

Did you enable Windows firewall? You can try to disable it and see what will happen.

Ok, I found SP8 by googling and installed it.

But I still have problem.

I can send tasks to some clients now but not all.

Doesn't I have to authorize the new server to them in some way?

I also have problem to change the config for the Master repository.

It still have the ip of the old server from the migration, but I cannot change it.

I change, and hit next, and then it want to test, SMB and FTP pass successful.

But after that it stuck at "Verifying the remote access is aligned with Master Repository Controller access"..

It never finish. And I have to kill HPDM console hard by task manager.
