Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I wanted to remove all files from my laptop, so I selected factory reset. After that it started updating upto 64% for over a week now. I have turned it off and remove the battery but still not working. I also plug and unplug the charger from the outlet and from the laptop.

Please I need your help. Thank you

a factory reset IS A RESTORE procedure, and most systems offer a FULL reset/restore that removes everything and resets/restores the laptop to the state it was in when you first powered it on

the other reset/restore is to just replace/restore ONLY THE OS and keep existing user data

which option did you select?

also again the laptop make/model is required as most newer HP systems have the option to download a restore image from the HP CLOUD RECOVERY site

can't really provide help until we know the make/model laptop and how you are doing a OS restore

from within windows itself or a clean (new os install from USB key) ?

and if the update process  hangs from within windows updates

or from within the windows restore process itself

Thanks for your reply.

SN#> [edit] -  I didn't do a restore. I just  did only factory reset. I was waiting for the factory reset process to complete when I found that  it was updating and got stuck at 64% for over a week now.

Thanks for your respond.

The model  is   15-bw008ca.

I selected the second option "Remove everything"

your laptop appears to be a fairly old model that was released before HP started making cloud recovery images available on their website  (late 2016 and later systems) please enter your laptops PRODUCT ID NUMBER to see if cloud recovery is available for your model

the laptop itself also may have had the option for you to make a set of recovery disks or usb key using the HP restore manager program (did you create a recovery image?)

if not all you can do is see if hp still has a set for sale or check the internet for a set

you can also buy a win 10 retail disk and install it and then load the necessary drivers from the HP site

Hi,

On Saturday, I was able to resolved the issue from a support call and couple with the first link you sent.

I used the HP system recovery with USB drive.

Thanks a lot.
