HP Z240 Small Form Factor Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For lack of a better word, there is a soft "purring" sound coming from the front of the workstation about every 7 seconds .

Typically the bearing or sleeve of a fan is wearing out.  Every few seconds the fan may wobble making the noise then straighten itself out.

You can also try an air duster.  Go over the fan and try to remove any buildup of dust.

If the air duster does not help then probably time to replace the fan.  Try to read the part number from the fan.  Occasionally the fan must be removed as the model name is facing the wrong way.

I am not sure where the sound was from but the fan is at back of the computer and noise seemed to be in front.  I installed a second new SSD and put all back and haven't hear the noise again....yet.

Thanx
