Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP

Hello, we are trying to get rid of an old XP station that is linked to an HP receipt printer and an HP cash register. We don’t have the key anymore but I don’t want to trash the register as there is money in it. How do I open it ? I cannot access internet anymore as it is XP and I cannot login to the FTD account as we have not used it in 10 years….

This is a 12+ year old machine we bought, probably not even supported by HP anymore (I entered the serial number it was not even recognized…). 
i understand where they are coming from but it becomes paternalistic BS in this case.
