Hi @buldozah,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The white spot appearing on the button near the USB port could be indicative of a problem. There may be a hardware malfunction or a power issue.

Here are a few basic troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Power Connection: Ensure that your laptop is properly connected to a power source. Try a different power outlet and verify that the power adapter is functioning correctly.

Remove External Devices: Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.) and try turning on the laptop again. Sometimes, a malfunctioning external device can cause startup issues.

Battery Check: If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it, unplugging the power adapter, and then holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. After that, reconnect the battery and power source, and try turning it on.

Hardware Issue: If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware problem. It could be related to the power button, motherboard, or other internal components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
