cpu usage is determined by the board/bios  revision v1 boards only support 55xx series of the E-5 xeons

v2 motherboards support 55xx and 56xx series of the E-5

you can determine the board revision form the bios bootblock date

If the boot block date is 01/30/2009, the system supports only 55xx series processors.  (sandy bridge)

If the boot block date is 11/10/2009, the system supports both the 55xx and 56xx series processors.  (Ivy Bridge)

as to the exact cpu lists visit the intel site for processors, or use this sites search function using keywords

"z800 fastest cpu"

(sandy bridge  55xx only v1motherboard)

(Ivy Bridge   55/56 xx v2 motherboard)

one latst thing, in order to use the fastest (130 watt cpu's) xeons you must have water cooling or the upgraded 3pipe heatsinks (std are 2 heatpipes) AND THE  UPGRADED 1150 WATT POWER SUPPLY trying to use the stock 850 watt supply may cause issues with one high power cpu and will almost allways have issues with two of them
