Hello all,
I'm looking for the best Raid Level for my Desktop with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Options.
I have 2 new SSD, after switch on the PC and change to the Create Volume Menu via Ctrl-I there
are 3 Raid Level Options:
1. Raid 0 (not intresting)
2. Raid 1 (Mirror)
3. Recovery
I wand config a save system but I 'm not sure which Option (2 or 3) is better for performance and
for restore the system if one of the SSD failed.
Thanks for help
Thomas

If you take the time to READ the intel documentation on their RST raid, you will most likely have answered your question yourself "raid recovery" is just that, it begins the data recovery of a failed raid

the elite 8300 is a older CORE 2 era system and if it still is useful to you i would not bother with raid due to the onboard intel raid being unable to boot from raid except for perhaps raid 0/1
i would simply install a upgraded cpu where the onboard graphics support win 10 (if current cpu is not win 10 compatible)
such as the Core™ i5-3475S (note the "S" suffix, it's important!!) which has the intel HD Graphics 4000 instead of the 2500 of other cpu's
then add one or two SSD's and increase ram to 8gb and if using two ssd's setup a raid 1 configuration
(raid 0 with ssd's is pointless on a sata controller)
now do the free win 10 upgrade, by downloading the MS usb key image insert the key into a usb port while running windows 7 (you must be in windows 7 for this to work!!!) go to the usb key and run the "setup.exe" to start the win 10 install
it will check for a valid activated windows (the HP win 7 you are running) and grant you a valid digital win 10 license for that motherboard

Thanks for you answer.
The system is good enough for my requirements and need no upgrade.
My questions is the differends between the Raid-Level 'Raid 1' and the Raid-Option 'Recovery' in
the Intel Rapid Storage Technology -Option ROM Menue (via Ctrl-I at system-boot).
Raid-Level 1 is a mirror of 2 disks but what is Raid-Level 'Recovery'. If select this option it is necessary
to select a master-disk and a recovery disk and a sync mod (continuous/on request).
The help-text says: 'Recovery: Copies data between a master and a recovery disk.'.
It looks that it similar Raid 1 but where ist the different.
I look into the Intel dokumentation but found no information.
And a second question: where I can found some information about the task to restore the Raid 1
if one disk failed and have to changed.
Thanks
