Hi Paul. Thank you for this observation. Very helpful. But I was wondering if it would be possible to install a windows xp on this hp 290 system?

Hi:

 

it is not possible to install W7 on that platform.

 

The PC has USB 3.1 ports, not 3.0.

 

Intel did not develop any USB 3.1 drivers for W7.

 

You can only run W10 64 bit on there.

You're very welcome.

 

Unfortunately, the last Intel platform that XP could be installed on are those PC's with the Intel 3rd gen core processors and series 7 chipsets.

 

There is no way XP will install on the 290 G2.

Okay. Then do you think the best possible solution would be to install a windows 7 driver patch for USB 3? And can it be done?
