SSM not working

Hello,

 

I am following the SSM User Guide but it won't work.

 

  1. I copied ssm.exe and ssm.cab to a folder c:\hpssm
  2. I ran from an elevated Powershell: \\localhost\hpssm\SSM.exe
  3. I set the storage to C:\hpssm and named the share hpssm.
  4. I copied sp71832.cva, sp71832.exe and sp71832.html to c:\hpssm\softpaqs.
  5. I ticked to Check hp.com for CVA file updates and created the database, then clicked finish.
  6. Then I ran this from the PS: \\localhost\hpssm\SSM.exe \\localhost\HPSSM /accept
  7. I see a brief windows stating that SSM is initializing. Nothing else happens. There is no log at %temp%.
  8. So I ran this afterwards: \\localhost\hpssm\SSM.exe \\localhost\HPSSM /accept /debug /edebug /log:c:\hpssmlog\log.txt
  9. Same. Brief window, nothing happens. No log file at %temp% and no log file at c:\hpssmlog\log.txt.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Have you been able to get this to work on a system?

 

We are testing to help rollout updates to about 100 PCs without manually touching each system, but so far SDM/SSM solution is not working.

 

Since I do not see where to attach a log file, below is the SSMTRACE contents.

 

In order to setup the deployment server, we followed the SSM user guide and posts we have found online, such as HP Driver / Bios Updates during OSD with System Software Manager, which we used for the SDM/SSM setup/config.

We found our issue, which was that when we were passing the command to the client we had not included the file store path.

We just ditched HP and our new fleet is now Dell. Didn't have time or motivation to get this fixed, when with Dell it just worked. I had my issues with HP for some time now.
