Does anyone know of a current source for the genuine HP 6-pin to 8-pin adapters (N1G35AA, 460621-00x) in the US?

I’d prefer the -004 version which sounds like it’s the version with the ferrite bead and heat shrink tubing according to other forum posts.

I have a Z620 with an 800W power supply. I was using it for mining with a RTX 2080 Super and a RTX 2080 Ti. I used what look like high quality splitters to connect one 6-pin cable to the 2080 Super’s 6-pin and 8-pin connectors and the 2080  Ti’s dual 8-pin connectors.

Both cards are spec’ed at 250W but I was only running the 2080 Super at 125W and the 2080 Ti at 175W. I thought the PCIe slot power and HP-spec cable power should be sufficient. The Z620 was running fine for weeks, sitting and used only for mining. Occasionally the graphics cards settings controlled by MSI Afterburner would revert to default settings. The mining software would keep running but at reduced performance which is normal.

Anyway I haven’t been able to figure out the issue with the graphics cards so I pulled one and want to use the genuine HP adapters.

The problem is I’ve only found them on a few sites outside the US for $50 or so plus almost that much in shipping! I know they are expensive and I’d pay $25 or so for them but close to $100 for one adapter is crazy! Links in old posts on this topic aren’t working.

Yeah Goggle...

Everywhere I checked with prices in the $25-35 range was out of stock (some places would try to order from HP) and so were most places offering them for $50+. I know its supposed to be high quality and I assume its a niche part for HP but a $50 price is hard to swallow when I need them for multiple Z-workstations and I have to think "tiny adapter or upgraded CPU?".

But then I'm so particular that I want the -004 sleeved version because I don't want ugly yellow wires inside my PC even though you can't see them.

If I have any luck finding a good price I'll post a link.

itcreations.com has -002 for $19.00 and can supply -004 for $59.00 with a week lead time. That's the best I've found for any version though you might be able to save a few dollars on a -004 if you keep looking.

Why the cost?  The HP ones are custom engineered by HP to do more than the normal ATX-standard, which is that each 6-pin PCIe supplemental power cable can pass 75W of 12VDC through it (LINK).  The ATX-standard PCIe x16 slot on the motherboard provides another 75W, for 150W total.

The HP workstations for many generations have had their 6-wire PCIe supplemental power cables fed from the HP power supply via custom circuits engineered for 18 Amps... W = A x V... 18A x 12V = 216W... quite a bit more than the 75W standard for the cable alone, so the wire gauge needs to be better and the metal connectors need to be thicker, and no wires can be absent, and the copper needs to be more shiny, and you need to have confidence in the product because there is so much cr@p out there for less cost.  You're supposed to be rich by now with all your mining.

Try some black spiral wrap on the -002.  You'll only need about 4" each...
