Im starting to learn about pcs more i have a hp elitedesk 800 g1 sff and I read online that ssd is better than hdd idk if thats true but i wanna buy a ssd for my pc i want something cheap and small that still runs games good. I don't know which ssd can fit into my pc if someone can help that would be much appreciated. (If possible give me sizes i should look to when searching on websites)
btw I bought a gtx 1050ti idk if that changes things

I recommend one of these in a storage capacity that meets your storage needs and budget.

You will also need a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter so the smaller drive can fit where the larger 3.5" mechanical hard drive is mounted.
I recommend this one because it is the same size as a 3.5" drive, and you install the smaller SSD inside of it.

Yes, there are plenty of cheaper options, but they will have slower max read/write speeds.
The first thing you need to tell me is just how large a storage capacity you want, so I can post the link to the cheapest model you can buy that still has acceptable performance.
Otherwise, you should save your money and not do the upgrade.
