HP Recommended

HP will only test a system with the available memory modules which have been released when designing a system and 32GB DDR4 SODIMS have only recently become available for consumer purchase

these memory specs are then posted in the first revision of the "quickspecs" for that model

if larger sized modules  are then tested by HP this is noted in the updated quickspecs and also by other documentation

what you have come across for your model is simply that the quickspec sheet you looked at was a early revision one or it has simply not been updated yet to match the "HP purchase configurator"

besides buying from HP, you can also visit any memory maker and use their web check to see what ram/ssd models they offer

HP does not make memory, they use memory from crucial or hynix, micron (or others) and these are 100% warrantied to work if listed for you model system
