T530

I am  trying to update the BIOS on the T530 and T540 Thin Clients running ThinPro 8. The devices are  BIOS password protected. I download the pwd.bin and the enabletoolessupdate.txt to /tmp on these devices. I then try this command

hptc-bios.cfg -p /tmp/pwd.bin -S /tmp/enabletoolessupdate.txt

it fails

if i do a hptc-bios-cfg -r /tmp/pwd.bin

reboot and do a

hptc-bios-cfg -S /tmp/enabletoolessupdate.txt

then flash the bios it works

What is the secret to using the pwdbin file to modify the BIOS without having to remove it first

Bill,

You may not know that this is a user's forum, not an official HP advice forum. There are a few rules HP has for hosting this site, and one is that there be no discussions on how to crack passwords or give advice on how to reset passwords and the like. For that latter type of advice, you will need to look in official manuals you may have or can download from HP. You might have to work directly with the HP specialists with expertise on your hardware. They likely have tools we don't have or know about. Good luck on your project.
