HP WS Z6 G4

I have brand new Z6 G4 and Z4 G4

I try to downgrade TPM device from TPM20_7.62.3126.0_to_TPM12_6.43.243.0.BIN. after reboot, windows not able to detect the TPM device. (in both models)

I try to troubleshoot by updating the BIOS version and clear the BIOS by removing CMOS battery - no positive result.

please suggest how to fix this issue.

Thx

and why were you trying to do a downgrade in the first place? also the bios update needs to be done FIRST before

trying to do a a firmware TPM update/downgrade as sometimes the newer bios is required for the new TPM code to work

while you can sometimes do a downgrade, it's usually limited to the same major build (IE- 20.xx.xx.xx) means that any build that starts with 20 can usually be downgraded however trying to go from v20 down to v12 is usually a no no,

you might have corupted the firmware to the point where recovery is  almost impossible

read the following link, and if you don't understand any part post back.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/hardware-protection/tpm/initialize-and-configure-o...

if the above does not help you may have to swap out the motherboards

Hi,

Thx for you reply, downgrading is part of my testing... we are using Win7x64 and win10x64 (1703). both in our environment. for win7 we just having 1.2 as default settings.  I usually do this for all new models before place the order.

Not sure what happened when downgrading this two models., (Z6 and Z4).

I will go through the below link and let you know the result.

once again thank you very much.

Not all devices support a 2.0 to 1.2 downgrade. (but most do) i would check direct with HP  that this model (s ) supports it

this also might help,  try creatting a  package to reinstall the exact version of tpm that  was original on it

or see if the HP FTP site has a update package
