Hello,
The HP Z4G4 workstation I have, came without the USB type C connector, which is capable of SS+ enumeration and data transfer rates (USB 3.1 gen2).
I have a requirement to enumerate a SS+ device. Is the best option to use a PCIE to USB 3.1 gen2 expansion card? If yes, which is the ideal model for Z4G4 workstation? Also want to ensure that form factor is correct.
Thanks.

you have to use a add in card to get usb 3.2.gen 2 capability
while there are many off brand usb 3.2 cards that say they support gen 2 data rates it's hit or miss in regards to card build quality and driver support
most of the name brand usb 3.1 gen 2 cards use the asmedia usb chip and one that i have personally tested is the
silverstone SST-ECU04-E pci-e 2.0 USB 3.1 Gen 2 card (10 Mbps) which has a19 pin front panel connector and supports 2 usb 3.1 ports using type a usb (not usb c) at 10MBps which is usb gen 2 speed

a similar model that uses the same chip, and does use usb c style connector is the ECU02-E card,... however this card will only give it's rated throughput if used in a PCI-E 3.0 system

Thank you for the reply.
so is the speed you are achieving 10Mbps only? I was looking for speeds of 10Gbps in my case.
Also, you mentioned PCIe gen2. PCIe gen2 only supports upto 5gbps I believe. Correct me if I am wrong. So in that case, I should be looking for a PCIe gen3 card for the USB 3.1gen2, to achieve 10Gbps on one port?
