Elite Desktop 800 G3: Bios 02.39 : windows 10 64b
Everything was working fine last week, today after switching on no keyboard or mouse.  Plugged in the back via USB 2.0 a working KB & Mouse

Went to bios and using HP sure start tested all the USB ports and they the passed same as the rest of the hardware.

Tried recovery mode to see if I could get into windows, but as soon as the windows software loads have no KB or Mouse again.

But both work in the bios.

Did full rest of CMOS, battery disabled fast boot and still the same.

Loaded Hirens boot cd still no mouse or Keyboard. 😭

Any help or thought on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

See if you can start in safe mode

https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-enter-safe-mode-in-windows-10/

I suspect item 2 is only one that might work as most systems boot too fast to notice the F8 key.

Use a windows 10 install DVD or flash drive to boot into safe mode if the above does not work

Any windows 10 ISO image pro, home, etc will have diagnostic  allowing safe mode boot

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-download-official-windows-10-iso-files/...

Once you get into safe mode, the keyboard & mouse should be working.

1.  Create a new user account, local (no email) and make it administrator.

2.  Delete (uninstall) the keyboard and the mouse from the device manager.  Be sure to check [X] the remove driver from system.

Click on the "action" and select the scan for new hardware so that windows gets the mouse and keyboard drivers.

reboot and see if it works.  If not, try logging into the new account.

I can get in safe mode be it with usb or dvd or HP sure start.

The issue is that as soon as I imin those modes the keyboard and mouse do not function.  they both work in the bios setup and the usb ports have all passed the bios tests. also tried to boot from ubonto and the same thing happens.

Thank you for your sugestion.
