Unable to Capture HP T630 TC image

HP Recommended
HP T630

Hi,

I'm using HP Device Manager 4.7 SP7. I have my clients happily appearing under my HPDM gateway. I'm able to run a variety of tasks on these thin clients and all appears to be OK.

I tried to use the template '_Capture Image' and followed the instructions to capture one of my HP T630 Win10 IoT devices.

At first, all appeared OK, the thin client restarted and I was presented with a HP screen and a % as it captured an image. Then the T630 restarted and just attempts to PXE boot (which it cant do) and is left on a screen saying 'No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed'.

The HPDM has a status of these captures as 'transferring' and never seems to reach a 'failed' status.

Does anybody have any ideas what is going on?

Hi,

What's the DM Agent version on the Win10 unit? - please make sure it was updated to SP7 as well

Is the image file captured successfully on the file server?

Have you tried reboot the unit to see if it will be recovered?

Is this a single device failure or happens on all of the test units?

It seems like the device can't find bootable disk after reboot.

Agent Version 4.7.3669.27548

Is the image file captured successfully on the file server?

No

Can’t reach the device anymore. Because I ‘am not on location, I have only one TC available to test…..

Is this a single device failure or happens on all of the test units?

I have tested two units, and the same problem

It seems like the device can't find bootable disk after reboot.

Ok, but how to resolve this ?

According to the release notes of HPDM 4.7 SP7, the Win10IoT Agent version should be 4.7.3669.27045.

HPDM doesn't recommend to use the Agent older/newer than the right version.

I have never seen such issue before, I would suggest you contact the support team and submit a case to HP. The support team might need detailed hardware configuration of your unit for troubleshooting.

Try changing bios post delay with 5 sec. This appears to improve the TC SSD detection.

Situation is the same with changing bios post delay with 5 sec.

We use HPDM 4.7. SP10 with HPt630 Win10 agent version 4.7.3669.29648.

Solution for us was capture image with cache mode recommended for Wifi connection as workaround.

We had same problem and after investigating a looking on Internet, I found that during installing of SP, new boot.wim file with network drivers was not copied to the HPDM repository. We use HPDM 4.7 SP10 and boot wim should have about 242MB size. The original from HPDM 4.7 without SP has about 183MB. You can chceck this for x64 thin client on HPDM server in repository folder c:\inetpub\Ftproot\HPDM\Repository\Tools\Imaging\WinPE\sources\ . With new one boot.wim capturing and deploying works fine ...
