Product: HP Z420

I am considering upgrading the custom PSU on an old HP Z420.

 

The issue has been brought up in this old (locked) thread:

While the commenters raised some relevant concerns, it's unfortunate that no one seemed to know if putting a standard ATX power unit into the Z420 would actually work.

 

I'd be interested if anyone has actually replaced the custom PSU on a Z420 with an ATX power unit, and if it worked.
