HP Compaq 6200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got a old HP Compaq 6200 with Windows 10 on it and a i3 2100 processor, and i want to upgrade it a bit, does anyone know what GPU's are compatible with it? (Other than GT 1030 and GTX 1050ti Low Profile)

PoorGaming,

In the Passmark PerformanceTest baselines, there are 26X HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower systems tested and the top five GPU 3D scores  are:

GTX 750Ti        3D=  4534  (i5-2500K)

GTX 750Ti _______3658  (i5-2400K)

GTX 730 ________   969   (i5-2400K)

GTX 650 ________   966    (i3-2120)

The highest score for an HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower having an i3-2100 CPU is using a "Radeon X1950 Series" with a 3D = 177.

The GTX 750 Ti is both compact and does not an need additional power connection, so there that would be quite good performance plug and play.

Looking at the 6200 Microtower case interior:

There  does seem to be space for a larger, higher performance GPU, for example the GTX 1050 Ti.  In general, the more modern the card, the better the performance for the same power.  The GTX 1050 Ti is also rated at 75W, and therefore does not require an additional power connector.

The 1050 Ti would be a bit costly relative to the system, especially as current GPU's are selling at vastly inflated prices.  A much better investment for gaming would be to use a GTX 750 Ti and change the CPU to an  i5-2500  or, better, an i7-2600. There are i5-2500's selling these days for as little as $30-35 and an i7-2600 is more in the $50-65 range. The iX-2XXX CPU's were one of Intel's best series.

It's a very satisfying project to upgrade older systems. A current project based on a free system and, as far as possible, whatever components were already around:

Dell Precision 390 (2007) (Original) Intel Core2 Duo E6300 2-core @ 1.86Ghz / 2GB (2X 1GB) DDR2-667 ECC / Quadro FX550 / 2X WD 320GB ( RAID 1) / 375W / Windows XP Prof'l
[Passmark Rating = 397, CPU = 586, 2D= 339, 3D=75, Mem = 585, Disk = 552

Dell Precision 390 (2007) (R9_T2) Xeon X3230 (4C@ 2.67GHz) / 8 GB DDR2-667 ECC / Quadro K2200 4GB / Samsung 850 EVO 250GB + HGST 7K4000 1TB / Creative Audigy 2ZS S/C PCI > Windows 7 Ultimate Professional 64-bit

The only purchases were the Xeon  X3230 ($32) and Quadro K2200 ($61).

your upgrade choices will depend on part if you have the SFF or minitower model

mine is microtower

then any full hight or low profile (with full height mounting bracket installed) will work as long as the card draws less than 70 watts

there are adapters to convert the HP power supply to a std ATX supply if you buy one of these adapters and a 650 watt atx supply, you can then run just about any video card that draws up to 230 watts

note that the HP 6xx pro and the 8xxx elite lines use the same 320 watt power supply as such the adapter will work on your 6000 pro motherboard

and i highly recommend you stay with NAME BRAND power supplies that have reviews from sites that actually test the units

skip the no name 700 watt units for 40.00, as they are not well built and can actually be a fire hazard in some cases

But any of these adaptors will work? Because ive seen in some videos that some of them had to be modified to work properly with the system, those were HP Elite 8000 and beyond btw

HP Recommended

which part of the sentence " 6xxx pro and 8xxx elite" systems use the EXACT SAME POWER SUPPLY is giving you a issue?

second, your statement:  But any of these adaptors will work?

how the heck would i know? the adapter i mentioned explicitly  states for the 83000 elite and since i own a 6300 pro and a 8300 elite i personally know the power supplies interchange and as such if a ATX converter works on a 8300 elite power supply it will also work on a 63000 pro power supply BECAUSE BOTH SYSTEMS ARE USING THE EXACT SAME POWER SUPPLY

another option for  the microtower model (not the SFF model) is to use a power supply adapter and install a standard ATX 600 watt supply which has the necessary AUX GPU power connectors
