Z 440 ignores boot order

HP Recommended
Z440
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My system ignores the boot order set in the BIOS.

Attached on the PC is a external HD drive as back up unit connected via USB.

In the BIOS i set HD as primary boot drive and even disabled the possibility of boot from USB.

Still the system persists in booting from USB what of course fails so i need to restart.

Only sollution so far is to disconnect the USB HD before booting what oc is highly annoying.

Any sollutions?

you do not say if your system has the latest BIOS installed. Can you confirm - or update to - you have version 2.14?

I work for HP. However, all opinions and comments are my own.

Still no solution to this problem, it has been over a year and a half. I'm still experimenting and haven't solved it yet.

I have a Mobius 5 drive external case with 5 drives installed as JBOD. It works fine when plugged into a HP Envy 17 laptop. While for my Z440, which replaced the laptop, I must turn it off when booting; then it works fine. Not a big problem when manually rebooting but the Win10 update process tries to reboot and of course, that fails.

Any news?

thanks,

Bill
