Z240 SFF DVD-RW Drive Part Number

HP Recommended
HP Workstation Z240 SFF
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am in the position of needing to provide tech support to the people at work that order PC hardware for me. They supplied me with a Z240 SFF workstation (Core i5, Windows 7 Pro x64), but without an optical drive. I requested a DVD-RW, and what they got from purchasing was a drive that fits the Z240 tower, not the SFF.

I have searched the HP website and the internet for a part number for the slim SATA DVD-RW that is supposed to fit the Z240 SFF and have come up empty. The user guide and the maintenance guide don't cover anything about adding or replacing an optical drive.

Any idea where I can get the part number? I can't ask purchasing to order another drive without it, because I'll end up with the incorrect one again.

Thank you.

the z240 sff, will use either a 12mm or a 9.5mm thick laptop style optical drive which will either be a normal SATA/pwr interface or a  SATA interface that uses a somewhat uncommon power connector

your best bet is to simply use a HP external usb optical rw drive

HP partsurfer might give you the part number(s) what is important is the green latching part (see video below)
