Going to buy another Z4 workstation, most likely slightly used. There seems to be an enormous range of CPUs available with these machines.
If I am going to use this particular workstation for non-heavy-lifting stuff (MS Office, offline website files, etc.) does something like the machine' s CPU really make all that much difference in terms of performance? F'rinstance, a lower-end CPU such as the Xeon W-2102 @2.9Ghz is more than 3x lower in CPU Mark as compared with, say, a Xeon W-2140B @3.2 Ghz, or a Xeon i7-7800x at 3.5Ghz. Single-thread ratings are about half for the 2102.
I'll be putting 32Gb of RAM into whichever one I end up with, anyhow.
TIA for any advice you can offer!
