Z420 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Configuration - Z420 workstation, BIOS Version 3.94 and Barco CSC-1 Click Share unit connected to USB.  When the user selects restart the workstation hangs at the BIOS POST screen.  We DO NOT see this hang condition with a Z440 or Z4 workstation.  Barco does not have any issues where the CSC-1 causes a hang condition.  Has anyone noticed issues with other USB devices connected to Z420 workstations causing a hang condition during restart?

DRD57,

There were occasions in which a z420 would hang on start or restart if there is a USB flash drive installed in a front panel port, accompanied with an error message that the system could not find a bootable partition on the drive. The offending USB drive would have to be removed  and the system restarted.  If the USB external backup HD is powered on, the system will  pause quite a long while, cycling through the partitions, eventually gives up on finding an active USB partition and starts on the internal M.2 Drive C:.

The solution was to insure that there was not a USB drive installed during start or restart and the external USB backup HD HGST 7K4000 4TB) was not powered on. This occurred enough though that the boot order in BIOS was altered so the USB is further down the boot sequence. If Windows needs to be installed to the M.2 drive from USB, the boot order is set to USB first.
