Currently using a Z6 G4 workstation. After installing a GIGABYTE 4090 GPU, the device is not even enumerated in the PCI devices. I called the customer services, but the only reply I got is "4090 is not listed in our specs" and not explaining why the device is not listed.
Put the GPU compatibility aside, as a PCI device, it should be at least listed in OS. What if it is a Infiniband card or FPGA custom PCIe device? Although it is not a typical case to use a 4090 in this old unit, but I think customers should have rights to pick their own device.

the 4090 is a large and heavy card and there have been numerous issues with some brands developing cracks near the pci card's gold fingers near the pci latch area, if your card has this issue then that will be why the card fails to id in the system or work
also power supply issues can be the cause the Quadro® P6000 1st GFX 24GB card is the most power hungry card hp has approved, it uses approx 240 watts while the base 4090 uses at least 450 watts which is almost twice the watts

bottom line, i would not install this card in the z6 G4 even though it has a 1000 watt supply available with two 6+2 pin GPU power connectors available if using other cards and a sec cpu installed
