There is an Auxiliary fan 2 rear connector (#24 in the documentation) on the Z820 motherboard which I'd like to connect to the fan(s).
The Arctic S4028-15K fan(s) pin layout is below:
───Black─┼ Fan Pin #1-Ground (-) [Guide close to this edge]
───Red──┤ Fan Pin #2-Power (+)
───Yellow─┼ Fan Pin #3-Signal (Tacheometer output) [Guide far from edge]
───Blue──┤ Fan Pin #4-PWM Control
1. I need to know what the motherboard's Auxiliary fan 2 rear connector (#24) pin layout looks like so that I can cool the GPU(s). What wire colors should A, B, C, and D pins match? See attached image of motherboard Auxiliary fan 2 rear connector (#24) pins.
2. Does the J63 v03.96 BIOS have to be configured to run the fan(s) for GPUs? If so is there a link to configurations?
3. I'm running Ubuntu 22.04 on one of my Z820s and Windows 11 Pro on the other; do you have any recommendations on fan control or thermal control software for GPU fans?
Disclaimers: Please excuse the inexperience expressed in this post. I have combed Reddit, Google Search and this HP forum many times over the last few weeks trying to find the answers to my questions. I have tried to be as clear as possible without being able to find the information on this forum.

the z820 Auxiliary fan 2 rear connector (#24) pinout follows the industry standard pinout for PWM fans
simply connect a 12v DC PWM fan to the header and it will work and the bios will show the fan's speed

2. Does the J63 v03.96 BIOS have to be configured to run the fan(s) for GPUs?
not sure what you mean, by the above words..................................

That link was helpful. Thank you!
I didn't expect that the flat side of the 4-pin female connector should slide onto the 4-pin male connector's guide side because I thought the slightly slimmer guide was meant for a different pinout. Here's what worked for me and it looks like it is confirmed by the link you shared.
A. ─Black─┼ Fan Pin #1-Ground (-) [Close to PC rear]
B. ─Red──┤ Fan Pin #2-Power (+12V)
C. ─Yellow─┼ Fan Pin #3-Signal (Tacheometer output)
D. ─Blue──┤ Fan Pin #4-PWM Control
Regarding question number two; I was wondering if there are some unobvious settings in BIOS version J63 v03.96 which need to be configured to recognize the Pulse Width Modulation.
Or if there're other recommended ways to modulate the fans using software for Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu >=22.04? (question 3).
