HP Z820
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Z820 desktop. The problem is that when it goes into a state where it does not wake up in a controlled manner. The Z820 is set to a mode where it doesn't go to sleep at all...but still the screen turns off after 30 minutes. I have looked for a solution to the problem in different places. However, it has not survived. Now that I've used TeamViewer to remotely control the Z820, I noticed that I can fully control the Z820 remotely, but I can't wake up the device when I'm next to it. How to restore control locally in such a situation. I have understood that the screen should wake up with the movement of the mouse or the touch of any key on the keyboard...the setup is set like this by default.

the resume from sleep issue has been a issue for windows since microsoft added it to the OS

the only thing that i know works is to use a factory restore disk with the hp approved hardware and this precludes using newer OS such as win 8 and newer

if using a newer OS like windows 10 you can start with the earlier 21H2 or 22H2 os releases if possible as MS now pushes the new 23H3 release

start with a clean OS install, no updates or drivers using a INTEL BUSINESS CLASS Nic (no server cards)  or the z820 onboard nic with the HP approved driver revision

the onboard nic with the HP nic driver gives you the best chance of getting a functional wake on lan/sleep once you get that slowly add updates and driver updates while doing restore points

also many newer monitors and TV's have their own display blanking settings nowadays so make sure they are (or can be) disabled
