Z840
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Z840 which was regularly shut down and the next day would not power on: no power at all, dead, no LED activity no fans, nada. Removed the PSU and the BIST passes (green led on and relays click) so I suspect some power regulator component on the motherboard has failed. I removed and disconnected everything leaving only the 2 CPUs and memory but it it's just dead weight, no activity at all, no hint on powering up. The motherboard (761510-601) is a Rev E (not D) - if anyone has any other pointers or suggestions before replacing it it's welcome. Cheers!

for what it's worth I've seen this exact same thing happen on several z820's and one z800 also in a business environment in all cases we replaced the motherboard and did not dig that deep into why or what failed on the boards
