you may have a HD or computer bios password set, also the HD may be just over the 2TB drive limit for bootable drives such as some drives being 2.1TB
non bootable drives can be any size up to 8TB or possibly larger
please read the HP xw6600 "service manual" which covers in detail these items and much more
this HP board has policy that prevents posts on bypassing or hacking any set passwords

so, I am running a wd Device Manager - WDC WD10EZEX-60WN4A0 on xw6600 2 xeon. It works OK but it has a lose pin and I have the sata cable taped in and trying to replace. It runs fine BUT when trying to enter bios it has a picture of a key and password? I have not put a password on the bios but when I try three times I can enter bios but can not change anything. I'm stuck! any help would be greatly appreciated.......I took the board battery out for an hour and thought I wold never see my drive again but after trying to change everything/anything I just rebooted it again and widows came up. some how in panic mode I corrected the date and time and here I am. I have ordered an identical drive on ebay and wating for its arrival...I don't believe this will cure my bios issue though even if I get a solid drive in the dangling old one. What would set a bios password?
Anything you can do will be grateful
