hp 600 g2 mini
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've just purchased a used hp prodesk 600 g2 mini and having trouble installing a nvme m.2 card in it. all the hardware is installed but as soon as i turned on the machine i get

POST ERROR

SMART hard disk error

the smart hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. to ensure no data loss please back up the content and run hard disk test

f2 system diagnostics

enter continue startup.

I pressed enter and Windows installed but as soon as I finished you get this message again and have press enter for Windows 10 to load up.

the nvme is

Western Digital 250GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s - WDS250G2B0C

if any one can offer any help and advise that would be great. I spent a few hours messing around with it last night but no luck with sorting it.  I did try loading Windows on a standard 5300 2.5 sata drive and that installed perfectly.  I disconnected this when I install nvme to avoid any conflicts.

both the SSD and the PC have diagnostic checks for storage devices be they SATA SCSI or NVME interfaces

either the ssd or the PC (or both) have detected something that suguests the SSD may fail very soon, to test you can remove the existing ssd and install another storage device and see if the error persists if not then the orig WD SSD most likely is failing/bad

WD makes a more comprehensive drive check program you can download. if possible install to another drive with a OS on it and test the suspect ssd as a data (non boot device)
